Maria’s Tips and Tricks: 5 Hotspots in Manila for Free Wifi & More!

No, I don’t mean a night out in town.  I am referring to wifi in Manila.  And it’s free!

Travelling has evolved rapidly because of the gift of the internet. Just imagine yourself lost in the vastness of mainland China, not knowing where to go or what form of transportation to use. Your first instinct would be to ask people for directions. Although that’s not entirely a wrong way to go about it, you would soon find out that English is not really a very popular language there, and communication would be tough. Sounds harsh, doesn’t it?

With the advent of the internet, your aggravation is gone forever. Not only will it provide you with directions in the language you understand, but it will also give you good tips such as approximate fares and landmarks that you need to look out for. And that’s just a tiny bit of what the internet can do for you when you go out essentially anywhere in the globe.

In other words, having an internet connection while you travel is a necessity. This is why you should always take time to ensure you have an internet connection, or better yet, find a place that can offer you that much needed Wi-fi. However, wouldn’t it be more fun if you get to enjoy activities all the while getting that wireless connection? This personal guide of mine will not only point to you the places where you can get Wi-fi for free, but also the goods these places can offer your wanderlust soul. For this first guide, I shall start in a place close to my heart, deeply and truly connected with me. Get yourself ready as I take you to 5 hotspots in Manila!

Lush with the many universities that is in its proximity, there is no wonder why there are a variety of shops and restaurants that thrive in Adriatico Street. Coffee shops such as the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Figaro, Correon Gate and the local favorite Café Adriatico are hits to students and employees alike for their quality coffee and of course, the free internet access that comes with it.

In front of the world-renowned shop resides the Correon Gate, a coffee shop turned computer cafe that boasts of its 200 MBPS internet speed. The homey feel of the place isn’t necessarily reflective of its blazing internet speed as many gamers frequent it. Hot picks in the shop are their spicy ramen and rice toppings that will surely fill up your tank.

Walking distance from CBTL and Correon Gate is the Figaro Coffee Shop that offers a hybrid of international and local flavors. Relish in the true strength of espresso as they offer you their Macchiato and Americano. If you are feeling a little more locally adventurous then you should try out their renowned Kapeng Barako.
