New York is full of skyscrapers. But not all skyscrapers are created equal. That is, from a diner’s point of view. I made a list of some of the New York’s best rooftop dining experience. Spectacular views, good food, creative drinks, good service. And we shall refrain from talking about prices. This is New York. You are on a rooftop. Go figure.

Above 6 Rooftop Bar
A favorite. Located at Columbus Circle on the Upper West Side. Perhaps you have spent the whole day visiting museums or going around Central Park nearby? Cap the day at the Above 6 Rooftop Bar. They have a retractable roof just in case it rains. This sits on 6 Columbus Hotel.
After leaving the elevator, one would expect to be surrounded just by the skyline of Manhattan. And one is, except that it feels more like stepping into a Shakespeare play, complete with cobblestones and ladles. Plus lots of greens. It feels more like getting into a street-level garden.

Because of their retractable rooftop and a cozy fireplace, The Refinery attracts pub-lovers all-year round. Fantastic views of the Empire State Building the whole day. Of course, everyone else is trying to get the best views so be patient. The Refinery is the crown jewel of Refinery Hotel.

The Pod 39 hotel is a budget hotel on a heritage building. So you have brick walls and terracotta columns dating back to 1917. Great views of sunsets here. Just like the hotel beneath it, this pub is no-fuss. Just great views at incredibly friendly prices. Wi-fi is also great all throughout so don’t forget to share it on social media.
The Press Lounge
Located on top of Kimpton’s Ink 48 Hotel, this bar offers dramatic views of Manhattan. In the summer months, one can stay outside but the seats are limited. For those cold nights, they do have indoor seating with just as great a view as the one outside. It has great views of both the city and the Hudson River.
Upstairs Rooftop Bar
Another year-round bar thanks to its retractable ceiling. It even has heated floors. Upstairs Bar sits on top of the Kimberly Hotel. They have three different spaces, each of which you can rent for small events and gatherings.

I love eating at Eataly when I am in New York. As the name implies, they serve great Italian food. They have several locations in Manhattan, but the one with the rooftop bar called Birreria is located on top of Eataly facing the Flat Iron Building. They do the brewing on-site and serve beer with traditional hand pumps.
So these are my 8 favourite rooftop bars in New York. The list will definitely change over time and when it does, I will write another article about it. Thanks for dropping by and reading.
